Engineering R&D

North Vector Dynamics (NVD) performs engineering R&D for select clients in aerospace and defense. From idea generation to product commercialization, NVD has expertise across the entire technology readiness level (TRL) range, including theoretical analysis, conceptual design, engineering simulation, component testing, prototype development, large scale experimental testing, and flight-vehicle demonstration.

The organization has dedicated high-performance computing(HPC) resources combined with state-of-the-art engineering simulation tools to provide rapid and accurate analyses of new aerospace technologies. NVD also has facilities for advanced manufacturing, including CNC machining equipment, additive and rapid manufacturing systems, and electronics development/testing hardware. Private and public partnerships have provided NVD with access to world-class flight-test ranges to evaluate these aerospace technologies.

The company is registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program(CGP), allowing NVD to work on defense articles that fall under control of the International Trade in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Since its inception, NVD has worked with respected aerospace and defense organizations, including Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC), Raytheon, and NASA. It has worked on engineering problems related to propulsion systems, computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, experimental ground testing, and flight vehicle design and development. As a result, NVD has a unique network to provide technical assistance in defense product technology development. NVD's team includes MSc and PhD engineering researchers that have worked at NASA, Atomic Energy of Canada, and the University of Calgary.
