HYPERSONICS & ADVANCED
INTERCEPTION

North Vector Dynamics is building Canada's first full-spectrum air and missile defence company.

Our near-term focus is a low-cost, precision-guided missile system designed to intercept Group I-III drones and provide short-range force protection.

Our Advanced Systems work extends that foundation into advanced propulsion, hypersonic flight environments, and next-generation interception technologies.

WHY IT MATTERS

Modern aerial threats are evolving across two axes.

Low-cost drones are inverting battlefield economics. At the same time, hypersonic systems are compressing detection, decision, and interception timelines below the limits of legacy architectures.

Hypersonic interception capability is critical for North American air defence and for Canada's allies and partners around the world.

LEADERSHIP & EXPERTISE

NVD’s advanced systems work is led by Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer Dr. Craig Johansen.

Dr. Johansen’s expertise includes hypersonic systems engineering, detonation
propulsion, computational analysis, ground testing, and flight validation.

Prior to joining NVD full-time in 2026, Dr. Johansen was Professor and Schulich Research Chair in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Calgary.

Earlier in his career, he conducted hypersonics research at NASA’s Langley Research Center.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING TOWARD

Hypersonic interception demands integrated expertise in propulsion, thermal management, guidance, and flight validation.

That's why NVD is building a Canadian-controlled technical base for counter-UAS interception today and hypersonic interception tomorrow.

Sovereign capability. Designed to serve Canada and its allies.
